OpenAI Eyes Potential Funding Round Exceeding $100B

 This news comes after the CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman stated to his 2.5 million followers that 2023 will remembered as the “extraordinary year” that artificial intelligence finally gained mainstream recognition. Individuals familiar with the matter have revealed that the developer of artificial intelligence is reportedly in talks with investors regarding an investment that could surpass $100 billion. At the same time as the AI business is seeing a boom in funding, sources cited in a recent Bloomberg piece indicate that possible investors in OpenAI have held initial discussions.

Additionally, Mistral AI which is a a French AI startup, successfully closed a $415 million fundraising round, according to a story published by Cointelegraph on December 11. With this funding, Mistral AI hopes to continue advancing chatbot development, creating generative AI tools, and adding customizable features. Despite these advancements, there is still uncertainty around OpenAI’s funding round. Some important aspects like terms, valuation, and the funding round’s timetable need to worked out.

It is highlighted that if the OpenAI funding comes to pass, the business might end up becoming the second most valuable startup in the US, only surpassed by the massive aerospace technology company SpaceX. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, hasn’t publicly commented on the fundraising round on social media, although he did post some reflections on  Twitter lately, looking back to 2023 as the year that AI started to gain traction.

The program contains a total funding pool of $15 million, with 15 qualified enterprises receiving $1 million each. In November 2022, OpenAI conducted its inaugural investment program for AI businesses, awarding $1 million to 12 candidates to support the expansion of their AI ventures.
